Our One World

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Exploring "Our World" within the Humanity Hexagon

Welcome to the perimeter of Humanity Hexagon – "Our World" -- this entity that has been called "spaceship earth", "planet earth" and "planet ocean".   On this page, we  address questions that are both pivotal to our very existence and to the paradigm shift in lifelong learning that we envision. These questions revolve around what will make our world better for all of us and why it is of paramount importance.

Why Does It Matter?

We share a singular, precious home - this planet.  She has been called our mother, and Gaia, and she is the only one we have or need if we take care of her. Every ecosystem, every species, and every individual, including you and me, are reliant on this amazing, intricate, subtle living system. The fate of our world profoundly impacts all of us, regardless of our backgrounds, beliefs, or borders. It's our shared destiny.

What Does It Mean to Love, Honor, and Care for Our World?

We start by recognizing the profound interconnectedness of all life on Earth. From there we  acknowledge that our actions ripple across the globe, affecting not only our own lives but also the lives of others and the health of our planet.  The field of geography has been evolving from its technical period back to its classic identity as the integrated study of lands and peoples.  This approach encompasses such multi-dimensional phemonena as mass migrations, degradation of agriculture, disappearance of coastal cities, and the relationship of indigenous with mobile peoples.  As our awareness of consequences grows stronger, we start to ask what tangible steps can we take to ensure a better world for ourselves, future generations, and every living being that inhabits this remarkable sphere?
